To strengthen the security of Canada’s research and education sector, we collaborate with our partners in the NREN, government, academia, and the private sector to fund, implement, and support cybersecurity initiatives. We also provide identity management services to the academic community and boost Canada’s startups with cloud resources and expertise in emerging technologies. The Position: Identity and Access Management Specialist The Identity and Access Management (IAM) Specialist is accountable for assisting clients during onboarding of next generation IAM services, collaborating with the CANARIE team and partners nationally and internationally on initiatives to enhance services and increase adoption. This is a full-time, permanent position that reports to CANARIE’s Senior Director, Applications. Key Responsibilities Operational support of IAM infrastructure and services Operational support of roaming WiFi infrastructure and services Providing frontline client technical support during service onboarding Performing pro-active system security updates and service monitoring and analysis Execution of production environment change management processes Contributing to the development of technical guides on IAM best practices Travel may occasionally be required Other related duties and responsibilities, as required The Ideal Candidate To excel at CANARIE, you have a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively on teams and are also an energetic self-starter with the self-motivation to work independently. You have excellent oral and written communication skills, and can count time management, problem solving, and managing multiple priorities as your strengths. What You Bring Education and Experience College diploma or university degree or a suitable combination of education, experience, or other relevant training Minimum of 5 years as a software developer, IT systems implementer or as a support specialist Implementation experience with federated identity management applications or Single Sign On (SSO) solutions such as ADFS (Entra ID), Shibboleth or other Implementation experience with multi-factor authentication (MFA) solutions Experience integrating with LDAP based directory services or Entra ID Implementation experience with public key infrastructure (PKI), X.509 certificates, SSL/TLS Skills Strong analytical skills and detailed-oriented Demonstrated ability to gain trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders Technical Proficiencies Working experience in a virtualized Windows/Linux server environment and custom scripting Working experience with RADIUS and/or SAML 2.0 protocols and related solutions Working experience of installing and configuring open-source software Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite Come Work with Us We are committed to employment equity and encourage anyone who can contribute to the diversification of ideas and perspectives to apply.
