What We're Looking For We are seeking an exceptional Staff Engineer who can provide architectural guidance across the board and act as the ultimate subject matter expert (SME) in multiple technical areas. In this role, you will create reusable and impactful artifacts spanning multiple projects, shape architecture, and deliver complex libraries and major infrastructure pieces. As a key technical leader, you will identify and preemptively solve technical blindspots, navigate stakeholders through options, and coach other engineers while maintaining the highest standards of technical excellence. Responsibilities Strategic Technical Leadership: Define and drive the architectural vision and technical strategy for key projects Shape and guide broad technical architecture across multiple services and infrastructure components Identify and preemptively resolve technical blindspots, providing clear options and guidance to stakeholders Create reusable and impactful artifacts that can be leveraged across multiple projects Navigate and effectively debate technical architecture decisions, backing them with hard-to-surface facts, deeper insights, and practical demonstrations Partner with product managers and stakeholders to balance technical and business needs Engineering Excellence: Write, own and maintain high-quality, readable code that is appropriately flexible, reusable, and adaptable to changing requirements Own the full lifecycle of code from design to production, including bugfixes, load testing, and penetration testing and accessibility remediation Set and uphold high standards of technical architectures, code quality, system design, and operational excellence. Spearhead initiatives to improve application performance, scalability, and maintainability. Prioritize infrastructure maintenance and migration costs with measurable impact on developer efficiency Prevent reinvention of wheels through creation of reusable components and documentation Leverage expertise and unique knowledge to achieve technical goals through creative and effective repeatable artifacts Mentorship and Team Development: Mentor and guide engineers across the team, fostering growth and technical expertise, setting and maintaining high quality bars Dedicate significant time to knowledge sharing across the entire engineering organization Serve as a role model for technical excellence and actively participate in technical interviews Model integrity and high standards while offering constructive feedback to help others grow Efficiency and Innovation: Proactively identify inefficiencies and propose innovative solutions to improve developer productivity Drive the adoption of new tools, frameworks, and best practices across the engineering team Lead efforts to modernize infrastructure and promote forward-thinking technology adoption Problem Solving and Risk Management: Work independently on ideas and issues that impact current product development Think multiple steps ahead to anticipate and solve problems before they escalate Find root causes of issues, particularly at vendor/provider level, and identify alternatives that maintain quality expectations Go deep into technical problems, advocate for solutions, and rally engineers behind implementation Technical Execution and Ownership: Follow through on commitments and take full responsibility for work quality and timeliness Proactively seek new opportunities for improvement and update technical playbooks Build unique solutions that solve complex problems while optimizing costs and efficiency Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 8 years of extensive experience in software development with proven architectural leadership Expert knowledge of one or more modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js, Sveltekit, Astro, Next, Remix, Nuxt, TailwindCSS). Strong proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., TypeScript & Node.js & ES6, Python 3, Go, C# & .NET) and database systems (SQL, NoSQL).
