Head of Data Engineering - £100,000 - £120,000 - Hybrid (2/3days p/w) I’m supporting an established software business in their mission to recruit a Head of Data Engineering This business supports household names through a range of solutions, and have been steadily growing over the last two years. This is the ideal opportunity for you as a leader in the data engineering to deliver business-wide impact and change What will I be doing? You will be a key player in the senior leadership team, working with executives and directors across the technology function. You’ll be instrumental developing the strategy and roadmap for the future – shaping the technical direction and strategy for your product area. Managing an exceptional team can be extremely rewarding, and that’s exactly what you’ll do here. There are 15 people in your team already, and most excitingly, you’ll have the opportunity to double the headcount in this team This is key time in this business’ history as they begin developing AI products for the future, You’ll be responsible for managing business critical projects, delegating work-loads, setting deadlines for delivery, and ensuring stakeholder needs are met. The business has contracts in place with key vendors such as Databricks – which you’ll also be responsible for managing If you love delivering high-budget data initiatives, being a commercial-leader in a data engineering business unit and want to affect real change, this is the role for you. What experience do I need? You're experienced in managing data engineering teams with a line of direct reports You’ll have nurtured their careers whilst also having a track record of delivering business-wide data initiatives. Whether that’s delivering a data platform, data products, the rollout of new technology across businesses – your track record shows you deliver on what the business and it’s stakeholders needed. Ideally, you should have worked with HR Data in the past and have a firm grasp on what it takes to run a successful data engineering team. This business using Databricks, so experience in it is preferred but if you’ve used another platform like Snowflake – that’s also great Your technical background should be in the Microsoft Stack – Azure, SQL Server, Power BI, as well as Python is preferred. You’ll be familiar with DevOps processes and tools such as Git and Jira, too.
