The Opportunity:
As an Enterprise Architect in the Retail domain, you will lead the enterprise architecture strategy and roadmap to modernize retail stores. You will drive innovation and make architecture decisions across a variety of retail systems, creating solutions that redefine the retail experience and establish the company as an industry leader. This role requires expertise in software architecture, microservices, cloud-based solutions, and distributed application development.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an Enterprise Architect, working with technology, product, and business leaders to achieve strategic goals.
- Lead the technology architecture team to define and implement scalable, secure, and efficient architecture solutions for retail systems.
- Translate business requirements into robust architectural designs while staying updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Develop detailed architectural blueprints for retail systems, including POS, clienteling, data management, and reporting.
- Champion microservices and cloud-based architectures to create scalable, flexible, and cost-effective omni-channel solutions.
- Drive the development of distributed applications for seamless system integration.
- Strategize in-store and cloud development of applications with high availability and data synchronization.
- Lead the modernization of Retail & Payments Architecture practices, incorporating best practices and cloud-based solutions.
- Design next-generation POS systems, including tablet and mobile POS solutions.
- Strategize in-store hardware, network, and system architecture to support POS, AI/ML systems, and augmented reality applications.
- Optimize store operations, including in-store services and fulfillment.
- Apply event-driven architecture to design real-time systems for retail processes.
- Support innovations such as no-touch checkout and modern payment methods.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including Infosec, Enterprise Architecture, and vendor teams.
- Present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Build partnerships with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, and technical leads.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect or similar leadership role within the retail domain.
- Expertise in software architecture, microservices, and cloud-based solutions.
- 10+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing and architecting retail, omni-channel distributed applications.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle X-Store POS products, tablet, or mobile POS.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with store operations and omni-channel retail systems, including cross-channel items, inventory, pricing, promotions, and returns.
- Analytical problem-solving approach with a history of developing innovative technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated, independent, and highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
