Staff Software Engineer This role will be on a remote basis with 1-2 visits to their Glasgow HQ per quarter, which will be expensed. You will have a key role in defining the architecture of their SaaS platform and designing solutions to problems. About Amici Amici was founded in 2005 by Caroline Briggs, who is still our CEO today. Meet the Innovation team Technology underpins everything we do at Amici, enabling our amazing team of purchasing and supply chain specialists to support some of the most exciting and important work in the biotech and life science industry. Customers come to Amici to source products for their laboratory. Our MyAmici platform allows scientists to purchase lab consumables, chemicals, biologicals and capital equipment. It’s Amici’s Innovation team that works diligently to ensure that the MyAmici platform and online purchasing experience is easy and seamless, so that our customers can focus on making life changing discoveries. About the Role As Amici continue to grow, we're seeking a talented Staff Engineer with a significant breadth of expertise in software development to join our team and contribute to our exciting projects. The Staff engineer works across the Innovation department and supports multiple product development teams. This role is key to defining the architecture of our platform; designing solutions to problems, and developing proof of concept or seed projects to hand over to the product development teams. Working in collaboration with the CTO you will strongly influence the technical design of the platform, creating futureproof and scalable solutions. You'll play a vital role within the team, utilising the best tools to define creative solutions to problems and supporting teams across the development lifecycle. What are we looking for? We are very passionate about technology and providing a platform to our customers, so they can focus on the science. We’re looking for an experienced Staff Engineer/Principal Engineer/Architect to join our growing team. You need to have a strong breadth of experience in software development, ideally Java or .Net. You will have excellent communication, as you’ll be supporting teams with complex technical decisions and being an escalation point for developers when they require support. This role requires someone with excellent problem solving skills, using creativity to find resolutions.
