Introduction

Are you passionate about climate technology and data-driven solutions? We’re seeking a Software Engineer (Data) to help build and scale systems that enable large-scale carbon removal. This position involves designing robust data infrastructure and integrations to support critical Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) capabilities, all while contributing to an innovative climate mission.

About the Company

This organization combines interdisciplinary science, cutting-edge software, and large-scale field operations to reduce atmospheric carbon. With a recent $50M+ Series A round backed by notable investors including Google and Microsoft, they’re committed to transforming how we approach permanent carbon removal. Their global focus on Enhanced Rock Weathering aims to deliver measurable climate impact by uniting diverse teams spanning engineering, research, and operations.

About the Role

As a Software Engineer (Data), you’ll develop the backend infrastructure necessary for handling geospatial data, building efficient ETL pipelines, and optimizing API integrations. You’ll work primarily with Python (FastAPI) and various data technologies, iterating quickly to support real-world deployments. This Software Engineer (Data) role emphasizes solution-oriented thinking and a willingness to dive into complex technical and operational challenges.

What We Can Offer You:

  • A Software Engineer (Data) position with tangible climate impact
  • Hands-on work with Python, FastAPI, and modern data tooling
  • Opportunity to shape core data infrastructure from the ground up
  • Cross-functional collaboration with scientists, engineers, and field teams
  • Competitive compensation and significant room for technical growth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and maintain data pipelines for large-scale carbon removal efforts
  • Build, manage, and optimize backend data services (Python, FastAPI)
  • Develop integrations with external labs and APIs to streamline data ingestion
  • Collaborate with scientific and operations teams to refine data workflows
  • As a Software Engineer (Data), produce clear documentation and ensure high-quality deployments
