Zero Trust Security Engineer

Our client is looking for a Senior Network Analyst for a 12-month remote contract based in Edmonton, AB. Job Title: Zero Trust Security Engineer/Architect, Work Location: Edmonton, AB (90% Remote) Contract Duration: 12 Months Remote Option: Resource will work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required. Onsite meetings include but are not limited to strategic, architectural, and technical discussions, meeting with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors and business clients. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per month. Client is looking for a Zero Trust Security Engineer/Architect with strong hands-on experience in Zero Trust implementation and security monitoring across enterprise environments. Here's a breakdown of the ideal candidate: Key Candidate Profile: Experience Level: At least 6–8 years of experience in cybersecurity, particularly in Zero Trust security models and network security . Strong background in security monitoring, policy enforcement, and network segmentation using tools like Splunk, Cisco Secure Analytics, and Elastic Stack . Hands-on experience with Cisco Secure Workload , ZTNA solutions , and micro-segmentation techniques. Technical Skills Required: Expertise in Zero Trust implementation following NIST 800-207 framework. Proficiency in deploying ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access) solutions as a replacement for traditional VPNs. Experience in multi-cloud and hybrid environments , integrating Zero Trust principles across on-prem and cloud . Strong documentation and process development skills, including creating network diagrams, operational procedures, and policy frameworks . Preferred Certifications: Certificate of Competence in Zero Trust (CCZT) – Cloud Security Alliance. Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate – Cisco Security Operations. Soft Skills & Industry Experience: Must be a strong communicator who can engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders (including executives). Experience working in compliance-heavy environments such as NIST, DoD, or PCI-DSS . Ability to train and mentor teams on Zero Trust policies and security best practices.
