I was wondering if the more savvy WordPress users could supply a checklist of things they do to improve its SEO readiness. A recent post got my wheels turning again on this subject.

I recently made a tweak to my own blog (see sig), but noticed that the theme that I used was actually not really that great in its treatment of semantic markup.

I'm planning to redesign my whole site & blog within the next month, so having the knowledge of how to tweak the default template would be helpful.
