Those links were added by the page authors as further reference. Even if you add your link, it will be verified by the Wikipedia team.

I have 2 sites linked in WikiPedia. Neither one was added by me. Both sites are considered by many to be definitive within their niches, so that has a lot to do with it.

I've gotten hundreds of links added by third parties... but ever link I've tried to add myself has been removed. Go figure.

One way to get your links to stick in wikipedia is to become a contributing editor. They're much more lenient with link spam if you've contributed some content.

Yes, to get to Wikipedia you must offer something worthwhile, something unique, not just another copycat. You will only be accepted if you actually can contribute to the knowledge base, not just promote your business.

just write some articles on wikipedia and be known as a worthy wikipedian, then link your sites on your own articles and carefully try to put your links on other related pages as well.

I have a couple of links to my news articles in there. I didn't add them.

Most of them are for upcoming video games, though, so announcement/speculative articles tend to get replaced with the game's official site once they're taken down. Still, decent traffic from there.

I have not had success with getting my links to stick, even when they were relevent and in niche areas.

I think part of it has to do with not doing it anonmously and actually creating an account (which I have yet to do)

Nope, that's not true at all. I've documented Wikipedia giving multiple links out to a site that had copied content from another source.

Well, by saying "something unique", I mean not only the content but the presentation as well. If a site offers copied content, that doesn't mean it can't offer a unique presentation. That can buy readers resulting a link kept.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if there was "rubbish" linked too. Wikipedia is edited by people, and people tend to corruption...

I have several links within wikipedia added by myself and others. You just have to be sneaky, dont try to get the first link location. Throw your link into the middle of the other already existing links.

having hundreds of links from wikipedia is quiete exceptional and probably a blessing. Maybe your knowledge on wikipedia's website marketing powers would make good content for a blog post.

Well I didn't do any wikipedia marketing to get those links. I just happen to come up in the top 5 of so many searches so when Wikipedia people are making an article and searching Google for external links my sites come up.
