Zend Framework, /public directory and redirect

I’m just starting with ZF.
I’ve installed ZF 1.10.5 to c:\wamp\www\zend\ so structure of folders is:

If I go to http://localhost/zend/public everything works.
But I want be able to go to http://localhost/zend and it should redirects everything to /public directory. I don’t want to use VHost.
I’ve been trying with this and others tutorials but none of them works. I get this error “An error occurred Page not found”.

This is my .htaccess in c:\wamp\www\zend\

RewriteEngine On

RewriteRule ^\\.htaccess$ - [F]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} =""
RewriteRule ^.*$ public/index.php [NC,L]

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^public/.*$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ public/$1

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
RewriteRule ^.*$ - [NC,L]

RewriteRule ^public/.*$ public/index.php [NC,L]

index.php and .htaccess in c:\wamp\www\zend\public are default
Without .htaccess in c:\wamp\www\zend\public it doesn’t work either.
In access.log is “ - - [02/Jun/2010:10:28:50 +0200] “GET /zend/ HTTP/1.1” 404 375”

I am also facing similar problem if you find the solution, please put your solution in this forum

I am not sure why you want to go to the parent folder. Your document root should point to the /public directory - restricting web access to the rest of your application. This is the reason for this directory structure.

Maybe if you explained why you want to do that I could recommend an alternative solution
