Z-Index Issue With Opera and IE

Hey Guys,

I believe that I have an issue with Opera and Z-Index:

Please see here for the web page

You will see a large image which should be clickable and when clicked it will take you to the next image. Now this works fine on FF and Chrome but not IE8 and Opera.

The div which contains the image is:

.entry-content{
		font-size: 14pt;
		line-height: 1.6em;
		z-index:-1;
		position:absolute;

	}

while that for the link which overlays the image is:

.right a{width:1000px;
background:transparent;
height:667px;
margin:-682px 0 0 0px;
display:block;
z-index:9999;
position:absolute;}

any idea where I am going wrong?!

OK the reason for this was because I was using:

background:transparent;

I have now changed this to:

background:url(transparent-back.png) repeat;

and it’s worked.

Glad you sorted it.:slight_smile:

Negative z-index can be unreliable cross browsers and is best avoided and
Sometimes IE needs a background on the element otherwise you can click through as you found out.
