Xpath and IE

Hai folks,

while am learning xpath at w3schools, i came across this note

“IE5 and later has implemented that [0] should be the first node, but according to the W3C standard it should have been [1]!!”
http://www.w3schools.com/xpath/xpath_syntax.asp

Now i just wanna make sure that above note is still really a concern or this problem has been sorted out by IE to comply with w3 standed?

I couldn’t find that quote in the w3c docs, but I think the operative word is “should”. Then again, maybe arrays “should” start with 1 as well. (But they do not) This is just “one of those things” AFAIK. Although I would be interested in learning the history of its origins.
