Wordpress for Ecommerce?

Hi guys,

has someone really tried it for e commerce and can share his experience?
thanks.

Its not too bad, depending on what you want to achieve. If its a relatively small volume project, without any serious e-commerce
functionality requirements, it will do. You are better served with e-commerce specific applications, like OScommerce.

E-commerce site need large database which WordPress can handle and also WordPress themes and plugins often need to be upgraded. Your customizations may overwritten every time you up grade.

There are a number of ecommerce options available for Wordpress. You can read about them here.

ecommerce is a catch-all term that can apply from everything from selling one product online to an entire warehouse worth of goods. If you have a large volume of goods it becomes more important to look for optimising features that will automate as much of the front end (shipping, payments etc) and also the back end (inventory management etc).

I have never tried Wordpress for developing ecommerce website but yes we can do it in Wordpress. Wordpress has many plug-ins and themes related to ecommerce website. Also, it has some basic functionality like integrating the Payment gateways. So according to this we can develop basic ecommerce website from Wordpress but I would like to suggest you that if you really want to develop a professional ecommerce website then try Magento as it is a CMS which is specifically developed for developing an ecommerce website.

yeah…it is the better choose with new templatic.com’s ecommerce framework…it has every ecommerce feature built in
