Wordpress Design?

Dear all,

Suppose I am designing something like a church website which might require frequent updates by staff members who have limited IT skills. So Wordpress is a way to do these updates. Rather than have say half the website using Wordpress should I just do the whole thing with Wordpress ie something like this http://ewebscapes.com/ or this http://pastoralstaff.com/

I mean what are the disadvantages to this kind of design?

Thanks

Thanks to all for replies.

OK I am going down the Wordpress road. I know some advantages of wordpress but am not sure about the disadvantages yet.

Such website will require strong database support. So you need dynamic url to retrive data by queries.

What do you mean by “static” content? If you just mean that you’re going to need a page to have content that won’t be changed or be dynamic in any way, then WordPress is still a great way to go. Make each page of content a Post. You can make other content, like an FAQ or About Us, a Page. You can set up an Admin login and have another login for people from the church to make updates.

Thanks for reply. OK I mean that perhaps half the content will be static, so for this half Wordpress is not needed. So in terms of the static content, am I limiting the design possibilities by using Wordpress? To put it another way suppose my site was 100% static content - would there be some disadvantage / design limitations in using Wordpress?

Thanks

I don’t see why you would use WordPress for just half the site. If you choose WordPress, just use it for the entire thing so that staff members can update whatever content they want. Maintenance will be lower.

Don’t do static HTML content—use the capabilities of WordPress.
