Windows Server Web or Standard?

Hey guys,

I’m building my first Windows Server to store the websites for my clients. The question I have is, what version of the software would you reccomend for my senerio? Server Web or Standard? I have heard arguments both ways, but alot of you probably know more then the people I talked to.

Thanks.

Thanks Karl, you anwsered my question with one sentence. :). As I will need an SQL Server backend for my websites. Looks like I will be using Standard. Luckly 2008 (not R2) is on a deep discount right now. Once again, thanks.

Hi,

That all depends exactly what you’ll be using it for - Web edition has restrictions on the number of CPUs, the amount of memory and what you’re allowed to run on it - i.e. It’s just web pages and POP3 mail, you can’t host Exchange or SQL Server from a Web Edition license.

Thanks,
