Ok, I had a debate with someone the other day about having a landing page on a shopping site. They do SEO and I don’t so of course I let them win the debate. The debate was about having a landing page on a shopping site.
For example, before people see your shopping cart, should you give a page in front of that giving visitors a choice as to where they can go within the cart and the SEO so called expert told me I should remove it because the site won’t SEO properly.
Can someone verify this for me… I would like to know if having a landing page could make or break your SEO… :goof:
It depends on how you’re going to implement it, the structure of your site, the way visitors interact and where they come from (ie, are they mostly search traffic or from other sources?). A single landing page may work for or against your SEO.
We don’t really have enough details to help you. A landing page shouldn’t affect SEO at all so there must be more to this?
Landing page is always a good idea while considering SEO. If you have a lot of products to sail and you do not have much content to include in your index page you can create a landing page in order to navigate the customers to money page.
usually shopping carts have a checkout button to take the user through checkout process.
people hardly use shopping cart for SEO. the main focus there is to get the money out of users pocket asap.
I agree with Stevie D. It depends on how you’ll use the landing page. Since the site is a shopping site, it’s fine to have landing page to promote your best sellers or promos. But, you should also include a search text-box within that page to make your site more user friendly. It will help your visitors navigate the site a lot easier.
Hi!
A lot depends on the design of your landing page- it has to be user friendly, attractive and also SEO optimized. If you do everything correct there is no reason why it would break your business.
