I have no idea what the deal is. I have the router set to assign static IPs. I have an IP assigned to the laptops MAC address. I have the comp set to use that static IP. I have the MAC address for the comp listed under the MAC address filter under allow. Though when I turn it on it will not connect right away. It always starts with limited connectivity and cuts off the internet to all comps on my network then after I fool with it for a few (diagnose and repair) it (and all my comps) will start working. Though the other day I could never get it to work. So I reformatted it and it was working great until I installed some Windows updates and restarted, so it might be something there. My Roku and iPod connect just fine though. So I’m stumped. HP, Vista if anyone has any ideas.
I know too much off topic for this thread, but you asked.
Thanks for the reply, sorry it took me until today to get back to you.
I’ve tried everything. I’m sure it is something simple (stupid) that I am overlooking but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. :bawl: Maybe one day it will come to me.
In the meantime I’ve resorted to just plugging an Ethernet line into the LAN port and plugged a wifi adapter I’ve got (it connects to the router with no issues) into one of my desktops and all seems to be well.
My sanity finally restored, for now anyway.
Thanks again for the assistance.
have you checked for a wifi driver update, or maybe a router firmware update? how about firewall rules, is it getting blocked?
you may also try to set up the router from scratch again…
first thing i would do is to check for a wifi driver update…
I always install M$ updates, latest versions of the apps I have installed and what not. I’m obsessive this way.

I used to have problems with my network too once I updated the wifi with vista updates, so I just leave them now and it works fine - if I update nothing works for me
