Widget on side tab of website

How would I go about adding my widget to the side tab like the pic below

It’s easy enough to affix an element to the side of the page like that, so this could just be a CSS issue. More info is needed, though. Do you already have a feedback button? What does it do?

Hey Matt,

That seems to be Zendesk’s feedback tab. They provide you with a Javascript code that you embed on your site’s theme and it automatically shows up on the pages of your website. If you’d like to change its looks, I think you can do that in the Zendesk account.

I highly recommend a third party app that handles the feedback responses, unless your real intention is to build your own. If so, @ralphm already said it: it’s easy enough to affix an element to the side of the page like that.

No no, I have a widget for a voice server that already has a widget for forums, but I just wanted to put it on the side like my example pic.

I guess it might require changing the HTML a bit, but having it be a “slide out from the left” should be only a CSS thing, maybe some JavaScript too, though I am often impressed at what can be done with CSS alone without any JavaScript involved more and more these days Anyway, I’m fairly certain I’ve recently seen a CSS-only “on hover slide out”

What code have you tried so far that isn’t working for you?

I haven’t tried anything yet. I was thinking to get a nudge in the right direction of where to start. I’m new to js and I know the basics to css.

The first thing I’d do is check to see if the widget you have has any configuration options.
If it doesn’t I’d ask the author for help.

If that failed to get anywhere, two options

  • look for another widget that does what you want
  • hack the widget so it will do what you want

If you choose the latter, looking at other sites that have what you’re wanting should help you to learn how they did it, and with luck, you’ll be able to do the same.

I have the code here, didn’t have access to it until now.

iframe src=“https://urlhere.com/widget?id=4g4rtgh54h446y45u5435243rgtrgth” width=“350” height=“500” allowtransparency=“true” frameborder=“0”>

Can I wrap it in a div and make a small css block?
