I know there is a vBulletin mod out there to do that. Or, can you just give the OP the option to modify the first post so they can change the title?
The forum is concentrated as much (if not more) on debate and discussion than on merely answering questions. The main thing it tries to achieve is to teach - you know, give a man a fish and he’ll have lunch, teach a man to fish and he’ll have lunch for a lifetime - or become a millionaire through his success in the fishing industry, etc.
For example, imagine the first person to reply to a question gave a solution which, although it solves the main problem, will cause more problems in the future. For example, if a PHP programmer is wondering why a variable isn’t set and someone replies with “Try turning register_globals on”. The people with more experience here would know that such a thing is most definitely not good advice, and will instead advise the user on how to fix their issues (using explicit declaration in the example given) the ‘best practise’ way.
In other words - sometimes calling a conversation ‘over’ doesn’t mean there isn’t more to be said.
