Why is my computer so slow?

I used to have Limewire, but people kept telling me it would give me virus’s so is there a safer program I can use?

Do you have up-to-date anti virus and anti-spyware/malware? Is your OS up-to-date with all updates and patches?

Limewire is a heck of a downloading software, go with torrent. This will solve your issue possibly.

It’s not so-much that specific application that will give you virus as the fact it uses ‘peer-to-peer’ protocol, which is an extremely inefficient and ad-hoc managed system. Plus usually considered an ‘unsecured protocol’ (especially if you are sharing with unknown potentially unsecured/foreign networks).

All clients provide resources, which may include bandwidth, storage space, and computing power so that can also slow things down.

Furthermore if you do not know the ‘host’ you are connecting to there is a very “high probability” you will inadvertently be at risk to downloading malicious material and may have done so already. Like SpacePhoenix said, check what programs you have running and your computer’s security status, etc.

Dont use that kind of software… its a simple tip…

The computer slowdowns can be removed by some program that removes them.
Try Mil Shield. for example, it removes the system instability and temporary files & null registry keys. This will lead to faster computer.

it may be, but not sure, in my opinion never use this type of software. But if you wanna to use it, first install anti virus and anti-spyware/malware so you will protect.

Good luck.

I have Mil Shield. It’s a good system tool to you make computers faster.

Here are some tips:

  1. Remove all the big files from your desktop
/I use Mil shield and Windows Washer/
  2. If your hard disk is full get some external usb hard disk and use it to store large files, like movies, music and pictures
  3. Remove temporary files and other junk files
    /again Mil shield/
  4. Defragment your hard drive
    /I use Smart Defrag/
  5. Scan your PC for registry errors
    /I use Norton/

Mil Shield looks good, I never used it but it seems that its not free. So you can try CCleaner which is totally free. I am using it and its almost same or may be better than Mil Shield.

As others have noted, Limewire in and of itself will not infect your computer with any viruses/malware/trojans/etc. However, as with anything you download from unknown sources there is a risk that that music, video or software you downloaded may have a virus.

To make sure everything is running smoothly I would recommend giving your PC a full virus scan (see below for good free a/v), then a full sweep with Ad-Aware and [URL=“http://www.safer-networking.org/”]Spybot S&D, and then running [URL=“http://www.ccleaner.com/”]CCleaner

However you use your computer it is worth making sure you have a well protected PC which can be done for free quite easily:
There are firewalls built into most routers and also built into Windows - so make sure they are turned on.
There are various free options for anti-virus - take your pick of AVG | [URL=“http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download”]Avast | [URL=“http://www.free-av.com/”]Avira | [URL=“http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/”]MS Security Essentials

May be your system is virus infected.Update your antivirus.

Your computer is slow due to the following issues:
• Temporary files need cleaning
• Insufficient RAM memory
• Too many startup programs
• Too many ‘Security’ programs running
• Disk Errors and Disk Fragmentation
• Check the Display settings
