I see that Skype provides code to put Skype on a web page:

Why would someone put Skype link or button on a web page?

When a visitor to a web site page selects the Skype button what happens next?
Does the Skype log-in page appear? - for the web-site visiting-customer?
If so, when the website-visiting-customer logs-into his own Skype account, does the website’s skype-number automatically connect?
What happens if the website’s Skype person is unavailable?

Well you can send messages via Skype too- Skype is almost like the new MSN now. So if they are unavialable to call they can just leave a message. When you click the Skype button I think it launches the Skype App on your computer and then once you login it automatically opens the IM with the user that was the focus of the link.
