I got the site: www.naspos.com which deals with pos systems, security etc and it has a lot of white papers which basically describes what problems there are and how to fix them and they are loaded with keywords. how important are white papers to seo?
“white paper” is just a term that human being use to describe some stuff.
The term means nothing to Google, imo
Treat them like any other page.

It depends on if you are targeting an audience what uses “White Papers” as a search term. As Bompa stated - it’s just a label for PDF’s, Documents (HTML and other), etc that are meant to represent an authoritative document. Merely labeling something as a “white paper” doesn’t increase it’s significance in the eyes of search engines.
