Which technology should I use with Flash?

I have now decided to use Flash on my website. It will be a multimedia educational website and will include articles, reviews, tutorials, tips, and basically an educational portal for multimedia, with a niche in Flash content. Blender, Photoshop, and many others I will also be teaching, informing, and informing others about.

I have seen Flash books for Wordpress, Joomla!, and Drupal. Completely Flash based CMS software, such as those on The Tech Labs Site, is something that I’ve also read. In addition, I watched tutorials on creating your own custom CMS using Flash. Which method is preferred for an educational portal site? [URL=“http://designm.ag/resources/flash-cms/”]Design Magazine was another review I have looked at.

P.S. If not flash based CMS software, then which CMS is great for this type of content (i.e. Wordpress / Joomla! / Drupal / etc.)?

Here’s a an article that confirms your reply: Google Hates Flash!

What alternatives are there out there, considering all the stuff that Flash can do in 3D, not to mention, for the web?

Also, I should mention, I discovered a link to a book that may discuss this topic in detail: Search Engine Optimization for Flash: Best Practices for Using Flash on the Web

It’s nonsense to say google ‘hates’ flash. They ‘hate’ flash no more than they ‘hate’ a multitude of media formats they spider and catalogue e.g images, pdf’s, documents etc.

It’s probably better to pay attention to what google themselves have to say about flash, rather than some pointless and misinformed linkbait article:

EastCoast: Thanks! That is indeed insightful.

Does that imply that I should create alternative versions of my site that they can choose (i.e. one in Flash and one in PHP / Ruby)? Regarding Google, I don’t know if that would work well with two versions of the same content. I’m thinking that Google may not crawl them that well. I may be mistaken!

Your best bet is to create one site that use both html and flash elements. Use the flash elements for what it is good at - presenting multimedia, animation video and audio etc and put textual content like articles and reviews in normal html text. Have a look at existing sites that do both e.g http://www.gotoandlearn.com
