Which site map is better html or xml?

Dear friends
Can somebody explain me which site map is better for site from users and search engine point of view and how?

sitemap.html is there for real people to use although search engines can use it as well.

sitemap.xmp is only accessible to search engines and can contain a bit more information about the links it contains.

SItemap.xml is directory of our website for search engine…
Where as sitemap.html is also directory for user…
both are having there own importance…
Seacrh engine can use both as Fellgal said…
Thx…

One thing to note is that your HTML sitemap actually can give “link juice” to your important internal pages (i.e. page rank if you will) which may help indexing. (This assumes you link to your HTML sitemap from all pages in your website, so your HTML sitemap has some link juice to give!)
