Which navigation pattern will you use with a huge site with 4 main topics?

Hi there,

We are redesigning a community which a global theme (finance) that serves 4 different target customers (savings, investment, etc).

Right now we have a huge navigation that allows you to go to any part of the site directly from the ma bar. The problem is that it is too cluttered with stuff that is not interesting depending of your interest.

For example, if you are a user in the savings section, you don’t need to see links to the other non-related areas.

I’ve been looking to some sites that hide the global navigation, and focus the user just on the section they are browsing through (mostly under a hamburger icon even in desktop). I just want to contrast some opinions about it, because I know that hiding nav is not a good practice, but with so a huge site, this is hurting our conversion.

Thanks in advance!

I would not normally hold up the FCA site as a good example of anything , but it might give you some ideas. I think their main navigation is quite well thought-out (unlike other areas of the site ), but unfortunately it is not keyboard-accessible.

Thanks for your help TechnoBear,

could you please point me to the exact url?

I’m from another country and I’m having some troubles finding it. Thanks in advance!

Sorry - my mistake! I meant to put a link in my post and I must have got distracted.
