Which keyword is the best generic, broad-match or long-tail keywords?

Are you talking about Google Keybword or similar? You should be specific in your question and not try us to guess what you want.
What normally works best is long-tail keywords or phrases. The number of searches may be less but the ROI (which is really what you care about) is higher

For website optimization/ targeting / link building long-tail keywords are better - they bring more targeted traffic and are safer to use for offsite linkbuilding. They should vary as well.
Long tail keywords are more specific keywords and are not so common. generic keywords have high competition and difficult to rank so best option is to use long tail keywords.

what matter most is how good is you keyword no matter if it;s long tail of short tailed. make sure it has low competition with high search volume.
if you are optimizing your website to rank better in search engines rankings its better to choose long tail keywords. the competition should be low & traffic should be high.
