My website homepage content has reflected in internal pages. Search engines will consider this as duplicate pages. So. i’m planning to add “canonical tag” to my page. Before that i’m little bit confused about it, where do i add this canonical code? or else can i add canonical code on homepage itself?
with the href giving the version of the URL that you want that page to be indexed under. You can have canonical tags on your homepage and on every other page if there are multiple routes to each of them. Just be careful if you’re copying and pasting that you don’t forget to change the URL when you paste it into a new page – if the URL given in the canonical tag doesn’t return a page that looks more or less the same as the one it is on, that will really hurt your search rankings because search engines won’t know what URL to index for what content.[/font]
