i think the future of SEO in 2013 will be through social media but other medium will also plays its own role in search engine optimization process.

According to me Content is always King. Social Media, Fresh Content and Quality Back links plays the major role in SEO.
And it is very good as I believe people should be more focused on working on good content than … good backlinks and more SEO-optimized page
I think SEO would still be about quality content. Google is business and I don’t think the launch of any change in algorithms will eradicate the need of SEO especially now that Facebook is number 1. Google will create a need to make online businesses need Google 
I think, many SEO companies have still no idea about Google Algorithms facts so you can imagine the future of SEO in 2013. I think, No matter about Content because content is the King of SEO, but in next few days Social Media will be better.
I’m going to make a quote from Terminator 2 here - “The future, always so clear to me, had become like a black highway at night. We were in uncharted territory now, making up history as we went along.”
Ok, it’s not so dramatic really, but SEO has changed a lot and certainly will continue to change and we’ll just have to go along with it. One thing hasn’t changed though - content is king. All of your efforts will be in vain if the users you get trough SEO/Content marketing/etc don’t like your content.
