When looking for an artist to create assets for a Website, such as background image, footer image, heading image an so on, what skills do i need to look for? The first thing in mind is Photoshop but is there there any more important must-have programs an website designer must know?
Also is there some range of fee for such work?
Lets say a website like this: https://spellweaver-tcg.com/
How much it will cost?
This is the game we’re currently developing: https://www.artstation.com/artist/omerelfassy and we’re looking for website designer and we’re not sure where to start looking and what SHOULD we look for.
What would be more important would be an understanding of how the Web works (in other words, that it’s different to designing for print), and an ability to create appropriate assets. While many Web designers use Photoshop, it’s only a tool and ther are other software choices. Unless you have a specific need for Photoshop skills, concentrate on the results, not the tools used to prodduce them.
Unfortunately, that’s rather like asking “how long is a piece of string?”. The answer will depend on various factors, not least of which being location. What is an average charge in one country may seem cheap in another, and very dear in a third.
I’m still not really clear what you’re looking for, though. A Web Designer would normally design the entire page and layout, but from what you’re saying, it sounds as if you have a design in mind and are just looking for an artist to create assets.
Who is going to build the site - yourselves, or a Web Developer? If the latter, then presumably they could give you guidance in these matters - especially if a basic design/layout has already been agreed.
Hey! Thank you for responding. Do you now a good website where to find Web Designers and their works? I’m less incline to use universal service websites like Upwork or Freelancers.com and such.
And yes i’m familiar with how a website functions in regards of CSS/HTML but i can’t draw anything if my life depends on it :).
Sorry, I don’t. But you could try our sister site, 99 Designs. Or somewhere like Deviant Art, perhaps, if you really just need an artist.
Same here - but I married an artist. (Not that I’m suggesting that as a solution to your question. )
Anyway, @Talos, just a personal suggestion. Maybe you could consider all the idea of the website design and start thinking on that from different ways. I mean, for example, that website you linked has this really cool typical games websites style, with all those rich and decorated images and cool backgrounds. If you think at that, and if you then think at how websites are designed (and have been designed) you’ll probably reach a point when you’ll be able to consider the following: there are a lot of potential “styles” you could use for your website design, all of them potentially based on the game idea. Material Design, a super simple clean website, a website with fancy cool images like the one used abobe as example, and so on. I think that if you hit this point while brainstorming on it, you’ll be also facilitated with the choice of a web designer that will fits you needs.
