What the best text editor do you recommend for a mac?

I’ve heard that Notepad++ is the best text editor out there. Unfortunately it doesn’t work on a Mac from what I gathered when I made a Google search.
What text editor do you recommend for a Mac?
Thanks in advance:)

vim

But seriously, TextMate always seems to be recommended by Mac web developers.

Hi Dan,
I was on PC before I switched to a Mac recently, but now that I’m interested in web designing, it seems it’s harder to get tutorials for building websites on a Mac. Pretty everybody around me have a PC!
It seems there isn’t a big choice of text editors for Mac. Oh well I should have thought twice before moving to a Mac:(
Thanks for your message:)

Hi lila23,

as Dan said, Textmate is indeed a fantastic editor. Perhaps it’s even the most sophisticated editor for the Mac. If you’re looking for a more complete solution, then [URL=“http://www.panic.com/coda/”]Coda might be of interest to you. The quality of that app is just as good, so you can’t go wrong with trying out both. I have both and use them excessively.

can’t make any recommendations, but thought I’d give you a few more to look at…just so you know there’s plenty of stuff out there for macs.

I already have Textwrangler, but I read that it had some drawbacks. Wherever I looked it seemed that Notepad++ was the best, but not for Macs:(
Again thanks a lot. I will download Textmate and Coda.
