What’s the best option?

Hi Everyone,

We run Hair & Beauty Salon as well as Hair & Beauty School (courses). In addition we are also an authorised stockist of a leading brand Skincare products and a leading brand Hair products. We want to build a website for our services and the products we sell. We are required by the Skincare brand to create a dedicated website for their products, so that’s clear enough. What we are wondering is would it be best to create separate website for the Hair and Beauty courses and another one for our Hair and Beauty Salon with a cart to sell the hair products, or put all three i.e. (Hair & Beauty Salon, Courses and hair products) on one website. What are the advantages and disadvantages of the two options?

I hope that’s clear enough. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

If you use different websites for each service, you’ll be treating them as separate businesses. If you use one page, you’ll be talking about just one business with three different services.

Promoting two or three websites is more expensive and harder but it will make you look as an specialist in each field.

Promoting and creating content for just one site will be cheaper and easier as all content will go to the same url but you have to do it right else it will look as you are a jack-of-all-trades.

The first thing that you need to do before making any decission is what your customers (if you have them) ask you for and what they expect from you. If they always ask you for tips and tricks to make them look prettier, then it is obvious that it should be one website only.

Else, if they simply go, get a hair cut and go but don’t ask for any advice then maybe you should consider two separate sites.

Even if you create one site for the salon and another for the courses, I would use the shopping cart on both.

Of course, you can always do a small survey and ask them what do they think and what they want to see in your website.
