What is your blood group, how many time u donate it

hello friends what is your blood group and how many time u donate your blood.

Rhesus O Negative which I believe only about 4% of the European and American population have this type.

I used to donate blood in UK about every 6-months, in Iran about the same and also received a free analysis.

Since moving to Malasia and Thailand I have not given any blood. I was amazed to discover that this blood type is virtually non-existent in the Far East which is not a pleasant thought if and when the occassion arises when I need blood :frowning:

.

:spf:

Blue blood

Can you enlighten me as to what you meant by the cryptic SPF?

I did Google and do not think that the “Sender Policy Framewor”, “Singapore Police force” , “Scottish Photographic Association”, “Summer Play Festival”, “Sun Protection Factor”, “Sorting Paired Features”, "Soybean Protein Fibre ", “Sasakawa Peace Foundation”, "Spastic Paraplegia Foundation ", "South Pacific Forum ", etc.

SPF = SitePoint Forums, in this context. The Singapore Police Force and the Scottish Photographic Association are probably very important, but not so much as to warrant their own icon on a web-related discussion forum. :stuck_out_tongue:

On topic, I’m 0 Rh+ but I haven’t been an active blood donor for over 20 years.

Hey Tommy, same one as mine

[FONT=“Georgia”]No clue, and needles creep me out.

sure of course i can enlighten you…

:spf: thats my blood group, i donate on a daily basis, many times infact, im a real trooper

B+

They won’t take my blood.

Me too!

I would love to donate but I can’t most of the time because I am allergic and I take tablets to control it. It really depends on the period of the year.

B Rh+

I don’t donate, however, because I’m chronically anemic.

0+, going to donate next week.

They only let females give 3 times a year around here… so as far as I’m concerned, they can stop crying about lack of blood in the banks… in the US anyone over a certain weight can give every 56 days. Regardless of gender. Since I don’t hear about Americans passing out in the streets, the laws here are unnecessarily restrictive.

My father had blood type AB negative, the rarest type. Back in time storage of blood was not good, so he was on a donor list for emergencies. Hospitals around the neighboring towns even had him on a list. When his blood type was needed they would call on him and bring him to the location to do transfusions man to man. It did happen now and then, even in the middle of the night (accidents). Later blood could be stored and he just donated at a convenient time, but even then they would call on him. He was always helpful.

I got my mother’s blood type. I am not suitable as a blood donor because of health factors. I think that it is a great thing to donate and help out. I would if I could.

:)I’m also 0 Rh neg, but unsuitable as a donor now due to health issues. whan I lived in Saudi Arabia (before my problems) my blood was in great demand,
Prince Charles was the first member of the Royal Family to donate blood, He is 0 Neg also. He apologised that his blood was not blue !!! “just red like every one else’s” !!!

Actually, the rarest blood type is one that occurs only among a family of 9 people in Sweden. At least it was, last time I checked the Guinness Book of Records.

Pardon me Tommy, I did not know this

But for all other people AB negative is the rarest, or so I was told. So, how come they were the only ones with that type of blood?

Understandable.

It’s probably the rarest in the AB0 system, but there seems to be a number of ‘odd’ blood groups that don’t fit into that system. I searched for some info about that Swedish family, but didn’t find it. I did find information about another rare blood type (called ‘p’) found in 1-2 per million people. There was also one known from India, shared by 57 people.

Some genetic mutation, I suppose. If I recall correctly they all donated blood to their own special blood bank, because they couldn’t receive blood from anyone else. So in case of an emergency, they could only donate to one another. That must be quite scary!

I have A+ and I can’t donate because I have 172 cm and 54 kg…I have tried to donate but they don’t allow me

Hmm. My speculation would be that in times past there were so few people and they lived as isolated groups for long times—no outside influence—so nothing was changing their makeup. A form of inbreeding. It would be interesting if we could go back in time and find out things like that.
