What is the three dot colon?

Met it on p. 61 ch 2 in creating a new table. Don’t know what it is or how to access it on mac keyboard and google searches are fruitless (I’m sure I am not describing it well enough to figure it out)

Anyway, it’s the colon with three dots - can anyone help?

Met it on p. 61 ch 2 in creating a new table.

Which book?

it’s not a three-dot colon, it’s a vertical ellipsis

in html, you’d use ⋮ ( ⋮ ) but sql isn’t html

it means “and so on” or “more like the above”

see also Where do I find three dots stacked on top of each other, on my keyboard?

In the same book (Build Your Own Database Driven Web Site using PHP and MYSQL), look on page xxvii located in the Preface.

You will find the explanation of this and other conventions used in the book.

Thanks all for responding, thanks CSU-Bill for the tip.
