Last I recall, Magento required a shared hosting environment that is a bit “beefier” than is usually the case. One host that I know of to be focusing on Magento hosting (and I think it’s featured on Magento’s partners page as well) is Crucialwebhost, but, even though I’ve had a few very nice interactions with the owner, I have never used them as a hosting provider.

A VPS is a solution if you are ready to manage your hosting environment, or you’re ready to pay the $40+ it usually costs to get a fully managed VPS. I’ve had a good experience thus far with Liquidweb for a managed VPS, but even if it’s managed, you may need to know a few things about how a server runs in order to know what to ask of your host.

Hello,

You may also want to take a look at semi-dedicated hosting. This is basically a shared hosting account but on a server with less users thus you receive a bigger chunk of the server.

Well, Magento works fine on the shared hosting as well, but I would recommend you to check with your hosting provider to know the specifications which you actually want to go for.
