What is the biggest problem with websites today?

Hi,

I’m not sure if i have posted this in the correct forum so i thought I’d ask anyway.

I was wondering if anyone can offer advice as to what the biggest problem developers have when making a website. I was thinking that security is a key issue but i wanted to know what professionals (like you guys) think.

Thanks

The User-Experience is the biggest problem with the web today, too few professionals still acknowledge or bother with accessibility, usability and web standards. :frowning:

If you mean the biggest problem for the developer: I would probably say it’s compatibility… getting things to work cross browser and device is a huge issue.

Thanks Alex,

I appreciate your advice and totally agree. I welcome other suggestions… Are these the biggest problems?

For the web developer cross browser compatibility and Usability?

Cross-browser compatibility is probably the most obvious and complained about.

The Client!! lol…

In all seriousness, The Cient is the biggest problem!

Let me explain my point. I spend a massive amount of time educating my clients before/during/after the project. As some others stated above regarding going outside of web standards… Many clients simply do not know what they are doing and what the consequences of it. They just ‘think’ they want it to look or act or function a certain way. Many times you have to get them to back away from certain things and look at the larger picture.

So, while browser compatibility is a massive thing, I think that developers not taking time to help educate the client is one of the largest issues. Many developers/designers just take orders and deliver a product. It doesn’t matter to the developer what the end product is, as long as the client is happy.

lol

That is so true!!

Clients most of the time don’t know what their talking about, and the worst part is when they think they know more that you.

But i do think we developers should try to help the clients understand first…

More comments are welcome.
