What is the benefits of press release distribution?

can you tell me that what is the benefits of press release distribution? and what is the role of PR in Internet marketing?

I think that PR are only worthy if you pay for publishing on reputable PR sites, which can be expensive.

There are also many free PR sites too, but as you can imagine, they are very spammy and nobody really visits them, so the benefit from them is 0.

If you are paying for it then it isn’t a press release.

If you can self publish it on their site then that too is not a press release.

A press release is something that you send to the site authors (more commonly known as Journalists on sites that process press releases) where they decide whether it is newsworthy and whether to publish it as news on their site or not. They will also decide how much of it to publish generally trimming excess paragraphs from the bottom to fit their requirements - which is why press releases should always include the most important information at the top.

Press releases are valuable because it is something that someone else has chosen to publish that tells people about something involving your site. If it includes a link then that’s the most valuable of all because it is a natural link to your site from another site that increases the likelihood of people actually visiting your site.

Press releases are valuable because if you release one that is interesting enough, people will want to write stories about your website/company.

Good press releases are very valuable. Mediocre press releases are usually a waste of time.

Thanks for a nice explanation. So “press release” websites, paid and free, are a waste of time, but news websites are worth of trying? (I thought they need to be paid)

You’ve mentioned the most important info at the top - I suppose a website link should be put in the 1st paragraph. Would it be too much to also include for ex. a youtube link to the short video promo?

The benefits are of course : backlinks, exposure, traffic…But be careful to not use your targetted keyword as the anchor because you will get google penalty …Try to Vary your anchor to get safety of your backlinks…
