Just to add to Jackshob’s advice, the PageRank metric is an important factor in determining where your site will appear in Google search results, but it is not the only one. Having a high page rank does not mean a high ranking in search results, or vice versa.
Also, you need to distinguish the PageRank that Google records internally, and the one that’s visible to the public via the Google Toolbar. The latter only gives a rough idea of the internal PageRank (the one actually used by Google) and often lags behind it by several weeks or months. It would be a mistake to look at the toolbar PageRank and assume it is an accurate indication of the page’s value.
