What is Google Sandbox?

What is Google Sandbox?

A fiction invented by so-called SEO “experts”.

Whatever you call it, but there is a search engine filter which filters spam links for new domains.

Do you have a Google reference to back this up?

I would hope that if there was such a thing it would filter spam links for any website, new or old.

I think the link will clear your doubt http://www.seochat.com/c/a/google-optimization-help/google-sandbox-frequently-asked-questions/ :innocent:

That link says:

The Google Sandbox is an alleged filter placed on new websites.

which is exactly my point. There is no evidence that it exists. Google issues huge amounts of advice and guidance to webmasters, yet nowhere does it mention a “sandbox”.

I do agree that Google nowhere mentions the ‘sandbox’. However in the SEO circle, the use of what can be termed as more of a myth, the ‘sandbox’ is prevalent. To make sense,

The Google Sandbox is an alleged filter placed on new websites. The result is that a site does not receive good rankings for its most important keywords and keyword phrases. Even with good content, abundant incoming links and strong Google PageRank, a site is still adversely affected by the Sandbox effect.

There is a lot of tosh talked about in SEO circles. The point is the article you quote says alleged - that’s the key. No one can prove it exists, probably because it doesn’t.

When did the Google Sandbox first appear?
Website owners and search engine optimization professionals began to
notice the Google Sandbox effect, real or imagined, starting in March,

So even if this were a real thing, it’s old news.
Google’s algorithms have altered massively since then to better cope with the issues that “sandbox” is alleged to address.
If it ever did exist, it would be redundant now.

So not only is this yet another example of SEO mythology, but it’s also very out-dated like so many other things we hear of from “SEO experts”.
