What is better? .com .org .net .biz or regional?

hello,

I want to build an online shop in Romania - adresed only to romanian people, so no english version.
I’m asking you , what is better? to choose the domain name I want but the only wxtension available is .org, or to think about other domain name with .ro extension?

thank you very much.

<snip>

.COM is better !

.net sounds good but i recommend you to have .com.
thanks

Since you want to make it especially for your country, you should go with .ro. I would also recommend you register the .com and redirect it to the .ro if you can.

Just me thoughts, but I’m no expert!

If your target audience is a particular country then you should use a country specific domain. The international domains are for where you expect an international audience and there is nothing worse than having millions of people telling everyone they know that your site is garbage when it doesn’t work properly for people in their country.

Yes I agree, and you already said it is only for Romanian people so there is no point with going with any other extension that the .ro

Another vote for .ro domain. If shop is designed exclusively for local people, .ro ill be the best choice.

However, you may want to register .com domain for future use (in case you decide to expand your business)

I recommend you have both TLD domain name and ccTLD domain name if both availible for the registration. Consider that as a kind of investment.

I have a country specific domain and it works very well - eventhough its still in english most traffic comes from the intended coutry. As the others said also get the .com for future use.

It is better to choose .ro domain since you want to concentrate on the specific country…

if you are targeting the Romania the .ro extension may help with your branding. No matter which tld you choose, if possible host it within Romania (doing so should get you higher ranking in the Romanian search engines).

The better is com.

I would suggest .ro domain.
Since your target customers are in romania, .ro would be good for your business.

As only .org and .ro are available, you should go for .ro
Secondly you can add Google Translator on your website.
We added this to all our 12 websites, in case someone wants to read content in his own language, though the translation is not all perfect but it works.

Good luck.

Definitely go with .ro as there is a trend towards ccTLD domains now. You should also try register the .eu version of the domain if it is available as .eu ccTLD is beginning to replace .com as the second choice domain in Eastern EU countries.

Regards…jmcc

considering google geo targeting search options I would really recommend using the extension of your location if you need to rank well locally

If your targeted audience is decided then go for cctld only but yes as above mentioned if .com is available…grab it.

And what would you do once you need expand your business outside your country?

I would use the .ro domain for my branding within the country but I would definitely still get the .com

I would use .com, but if it is ONLY for regional also get the .ro. .com everyone knows and I feel like it is better to have. If you can afford both take them and I would make .ro go to .com. If not then I would get .com.
