I want to build an online shop in Romania - adresed only to romanian people, so no english version.
I’m asking you , what is better? to choose the domain name I want but the only wxtension available is .org, or to think about other domain name with .ro extension?
Since you want to make it especially for your country, you should go with .ro. I would also recommend you register the .com and redirect it to the .ro if you can.
If your target audience is a particular country then you should use a country specific domain. The international domains are for where you expect an international audience and there is nothing worse than having millions of people telling everyone they know that your site is garbage when it doesn’t work properly for people in their country.
I have a country specific domain and it works very well - eventhough its still in english most traffic comes from the intended coutry. As the others said also get the .com for future use.
if you are targeting the Romania the .ro extension may help with your branding. No matter which tld you choose, if possible host it within Romania (doing so should get you higher ranking in the Romanian search engines).
As only .org and .ro are available, you should go for .ro
Secondly you can add Google Translator on your website.
We added this to all our 12 websites, in case someone wants to read content in his own language, though the translation is not all perfect but it works.
Definitely go with .ro as there is a trend towards ccTLD domains now. You should also try register the .eu version of the domain if it is available as .eu ccTLD is beginning to replace .com as the second choice domain in Eastern EU countries.
I would use .com, but if it is ONLY for regional also get the .ro. .com everyone knows and I feel like it is better to have. If you can afford both take them and I would make .ro go to .com. If not then I would get .com.
