What’s wrong with Google Analytics? It’s free, and generally regarded as the most complete free package out there.
I’d have to agree with Stevie D, I’ve yet to find another free analytics service that can match the caliber of Google Analytics. Not to mention that the new beta version of GA is looking very good with the long anticipated real-time data!
I agree with what the others have said about Google Analytics. Most of the time, that would be my recommendation as well.
That said, you should also check to see what tools are bundled with your web hosting. Many hosting companies provide AWStats, or something similar. These have the advantage that you don’t need to adjust your HTML code or change your site in any way. They are much simpler than Google Analytics, but inevitably they provide less information.
