I’m looking for a new motherboard that can produce over 3 ghz. What would be a good one? And i want one that supports a good processor too(preferably intel, and no I7 extreme, it cost too much). One that supports SATA and something better than DDR ram.
Gigabyte and Biostar both make motherboards that can overclock pretty well.
I personally have a Gigabyte MA770-UD3:
and my processor is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750+
As you see the stock speed is 2.7Ghz. With that board I was able to push it to 3.1Ghz. Here’s the CPU-Z image to prove it:

An Asus z68 series motherboard with a K-series CPU is a good combination designed specifically for OCing. A K-series CPU is preferable since the multiplier is unlocked. Supposedly, you can crank them up to 4.9GHz using only air cooling.
