What does "Variation ID" mean?

Looking over this site: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/ I saw the phrase “Variation ID” with a bunch of numbers and didn’t know what it means. It’s at the very very bottom.

Anyone?

Thanks guys!

No idea

Have you asked BB&B?

The closest guess I have is going by a Google search.
Something to do with WooCommece.

Why a site would want to display that is beyond me.

See @syakoban? You’re not the only one.

I looked briefly into some items but I wasn’t lucky enough to find this concept of “variation ID”. and see if I could figure it out myself but I guess the best thing to do is to ask them directly because I can’t think of anything.

It may be very well related to WooCommerce, like @Mittineague suggests. In that case, it would be different IDs for the same product but just slightly different properties.

As an example, a T-shirt that come in different colors or sizes. The T-shirt is still the same but it may vary in color or size. That would be a variation of the same product.

Yeah I saw the WooCommerce results in Google too, but they don’t use WP. Just thought there was something going on in HTML that I was ignorant of.

They may be using WP even if the headers doesn’t say so. Or maybe they built something else that could work with WooCommerce. I haven’t seen any other commerce platform that uses that specific name form.

Of course, they could have built their own… or use something else.
