I own the domain MYCFMX.com. Originally i bought it because I was learning Coldfusion. I’m now redesigning this website using the Expression Engine CMS, so its no longer going to be in Coldfusion, it will now be in PHP.
So, this site will be a blog, gallery, about me, sort of a personal website to showcase everything I’m doing from my personal life to career type stuff.
I’m looking for suggestions on what MYCFMX could stand for if it were a acronym.
Now, some things that I think would be ok. I’m thinking the letters could “MY” could form the word “My”.
The letter “X” could go with any word that has an X in it.
MX is just a version name of the software when it was released by Macromedia. They had the same naming convention for Flash and Dreamweaver. As far as I know MX doesn’t really stand for anything special, it’s just a catchy product name.
I appreciate your help, but maybe you missed my first post completely
I bought mycfmx.com because I wrote my site in coldfusion. Obviously, MyColdFusionMX was the name of the site before - I’m looking to change that.
But now, I am changing my website from Coldfusion back to PHP because I am using ExpressionEngine CORE for my website CMS. Its written in PHP.
I guess it might help the folks here if you went to the site. See the things i am blogging about. The site aims to be personal blog where I showcase my work and talk and babble about whatever I want. Some section will be very focused and some sections will just be random thoughts and events. Its going to be a LIFE blog.
So, assume mycfmx is an acronym. What can the letters stand for? And I don’t want to use Coldfusion in the title because the blog is not about Coldfusion, it will be more about me and my life.
I thought “MY Curiously Fantastic Monstrous eXperiences” or “My Crazed Fierce Melodramatic eXistence”
Ah, I see. It might be kind of hard to re-brand a site like that. It is VERY program oriented.
If your friends and acquaintances already know that it is your main site there should be no problem giving it a new “name” but keeping the old domain. Often, though, changes like that imply a shift to a new domain. I’ve site shifts occasionally, and it always seems natural as long as it is explained (like a side banner proclaiming “formerly MyColdFusionMX”).
As far as getting the right ring with the acronym, it might be easier to throw together random words/phrases than get a concise one-liner out of it. But then again that’s probably not what you are looking for, is it?
@r937 - Yeah i think want to drop Coldfusion altogether from the name. The central focus of the site isn’t going to be one programming language. Mainly just random things I do. Talk about the projects I am working etc. I do like that name u came up with though…I didn’t even think of it along those lines…I’ll give it more thought. Thanks!
@huit - Thanks again for coming back! Yes, i agree. it is hard to rebrand this site. The site isn’t famous or anything so thats why it was easy for me to delete the old site and start fresh. If i had any kind of following, I would have stuck with it. I really don’t care if this site gets famous or not…I’m just going to write things up there for the heck of it. Its fun and relaxing to get thoughts out there like that.
More people will be coming to see it because once i get the new design implemented i’ll start blogging and psting to me twitter sites and facebook that its live.
Right now I am trying to establish words for the acronym and fill it up with content so when i am done designing I’ll have alot of things for people to read.
So, yeah a random set of words that don’t form a sentence might work, what are you thinking?
