# What are the percentage of Keyword Density

Hello,

Can anybody suggest me the way to improve my keyword density. and what are the percentage ratio of keyword density regarding to the various search engines.

Tell me the percentage a Search Engine prefers regarding Google, Yahoo and MSN.

Is a rich keyword density would help to increase my ranking the major search engines?

Thanks
Denver

Keyword Density is calculated by the following formula
Keyword Density = ([Keyword Count]*100)/(Total Word Count]
Good keyword density is between 3% - 7%.

For example, let’s say that you have a 500 word article about free website templates, and you are optimizing for “templates”

• Total Word Count: 500
• Templates keyword occurence: 12
“Templates” density = (12*100)/500

Keyword density for “Templates” on the page is 2.4%

Keyword density is a MYTH

You have provided a good formula. We can calculate the keyword density with this.

But I actually want to know the actual percentage considered by the Google , Yahoo and MSN.

Thanks for your time seriocomic. As you are saying It is a MYTH. but mostly users are using LSI techniques and increasing their keyword density. They are also claiming the benefits from this thing.

If it is true then why peoples are using this and why LSI is going popular for it. Just calm down my query.

At the risk of sounding like a complete tin-foil hat wearer, anybody who mentions LSI and/or Keyword Density is somebody who has drunk the ‘kool-aid’ and really doesn’t know what they are talking about:

When talking “SEO” - you really have to view the industry with the realization that there is more snake-oil than substance (sad - but true). The pros know to test, doubt, re-test and confirm before jumping on every new ‘technique’.

I don’t really focus on keyword density… lurking on other site can give some ideas…

There isn’t one.

The only time you need to worry about keyword density is if you have too many keywords, then you might trigger a filter. Ask a friend to read your page, if they think it sounds spammy, it probably is. Just write your page for humans and you’ll get exactly the right keyword density.

That’s why having a good copywriter is the best “SEO” you will ever do

Agreed, as along as they’re not selling themselves as an ‘SEO copywriter’…

It’s a difficult message to get across though unless people understand what it is Google wants from webmasters.

Means it would be a good way not to focusing on the new techniques, or we have to go with just the traditional. Ya it’s ok to focus on realization before jumping on any new techniques.

But SEO copywriter is also supported by google and peoples are using that.

I’m not really sure what that means.

In short - forget keyword density, concentrate on writing your page so it reads well for a human being. Ok?

Search engines don’t have any exact keyword density count. But make sure that your keyword density doesn’t go above 8%, if it does then it looks like spam. Keep your keyword density to 3%. That’s the best.

Better to put the keyword density 3% to 5% in the total content… That will be enough to search engines… when that page crawl at that time search engine bots will know the targeted keyword in the content…
