what are the latest standards to follow for web design,as if i know the web 2.0.what are the latest? any body having any idea?

[font=verdana]Web 2.0 is not a set of standards. It’s a vague concept around an idea of a feeling of an ethos, but really it isn’t anything so concrete as that. It’s just a meaningless buzzword, and not much more than that.
HTML4 is the latest standard to be fully approved.
HTML5 is currently in development, and aspects of it are supported on some/most/all browsers, but it isn’t finalised yet and there are many features that are not widely supported.[/font]

That was the freeze for 5.0 as Candidate Recommendation; nothing more will be added, now we have 5.1: http://www.w3.org/TR/html51/ so 5 is basically dead or awaiting fixing - maybe by 2014 they might sort-out that first stage.
Although the final recommendation may turn out to be exactly the same as this candidate recommendation, TechnoBear is right, I jumped the gun. I saw the word “Recommendation”, and I saw that they started work on 5.1, and my brain came to an incorrect conclusion. Oops. 
Since it wouldn’t be until about 2022 is gets sorted and anywhere near a recommendation they are now doing it in small increments until 2018, or something; 5.1, 2016, etc.
The W3C blog post of 17th December contains the following statement regarding when HTML 5 is expected to be final.
If you know 2.0 then its easy for you to use web 3.0. It’s extensively believed Web 3.0 will create an intelligent in-depth personal profile for each web user, exclusively fashioned from the complete search history of each individual Internet surfer.

you dont want to worry about 1.0, 2.0, 3.0. thats all just buzzwords.
