What are reciprocal links?

Hi,

I found many directories which require reciprocal links for the submission of your site.So i just want to know what reciprocal links are? And what sort of links we should place when directories demand reciprocal links.

Reciprocal links are when they link to you, and you link to them.

Any directory that requires this will probably have very strict rules on what the links must say. One thing to watch for is whether they are demanding a link to the home page or to the relevant page where your link is.

If they are demanding a link to their home page, the chances are that the page your link is on will be a low-profile, low-PR page that you will get little benefit from, while at the same time helping them. If they ask/allow you to link to the directory page where your link is, you’re getting a much better deal.

take care with reciprocal links, too many can be harmful. look at it from google’s point of view, what looks more natural - lots of relevant, one-way links or an unusual amount of reciprocals?!
