Hi, I’ve been testing my site speed with various tools such as Gtmetrix, Pingdom, Webpagespeedtest, etc. My main concern is the load speed for first time visitors. My question is when i run a test on these various sites, are all tests after my initial test cached version results or do these sites/tools clear the cache after a test so if I run another test it is fresh like a first time visitor?
It’s only a thought, rather than a definitive answer, but I would have thought these tools would be pretty useless if they did cache the results.
Clean your cache manually and then run the test! You will be able to see actual results.
In what way do you think the user’s browser cache affects online tools like Pingdom @Zubair_Abbas?
If you test for the first time it will not make any difference but if you will retest it without cleaning the cache it will show improved page load speed.
If you are working on the speed and retesting the speed with these tools again and again, do not forget to clean the cache to see real results.
Im not sure how clearing the cache on my machine makes a difference as the test is being conducted on another machine.
I completely agree with you, I just want to see if anyone knew that for a fact.
Exactly!
Would you please tell me what happens when I use the “Delete Cache” option in a WP Cache Plugin?
Does it delete cache from my machine or from the servers?
If I initiate a Pingdom scan of my site, the user-agent is Pingdom. It downloads the site from my server like any other visitor. My PC’s browser doesn’t play any part in the process, other than the initiation.
What about my question?
Your question has nothing to do with the OP.
