A prospect has asked me to look a a site, which for some reason the developer has placed in a sub-directory of the document root, i.e. www.domain_name.com/domain_name/. Is there something I should know about why it was set up this way?
It is a Wordpress site, and I know that when a site is generated, wordpress files are installed in a sub-directory /wordpress. My understanding is that it is best to move the files from there directly into the document root. Was the developer just too lazy to do this, and instead rename the sub-directory, and then re-direct all traffic to the subdirectory? Or could there have been some more compelling reason to do it this way?
