Web development project - need help with describing the project for the developers

I need help with writing a project description for developing a site for my article business website.

I’m momentarily breaking even working out of an Excel spreadsheet and emailing the articles to my clients. I believe this business has some potential and I’d like to take it to the next level by developing a new website.

Unfortunately, I don’t even know where to start with from the web development point of view. I’d need a place for the clients to place their orders, a way to announce them the orders are done, and they should be able to download the articles themselves, whenever they would like to.

It would be also nice to be able to track various projects and follow up with the writers.

If you could help me out to understand how a site like this would work <snip/>

To be honest, I think what you need to do is speak with some website providers in your area, as this is what they are there for. Then you can sit down with them, discuss your situation and work out a solution that suits your need. A forum isn’t really a replacement for that. It’s better if you use a forum to ask specific questions that you are having trouble with or want clarification on. So if you have any specific questions, fire away!
