I am helping someone with a website. Before I made any changed to their site I noticed a virus warning on their old site. Unfortunately I didn’t know what it was about and since adding a new website for them ( wordpress ) I am getting a virus warning pop in my security about a trojan. I have looked a little further into this, my hosting company say everything seems fine but I need to ask google to reveiew the site to make sure viruses and codes are gone.
Before I do that though I would like to make sure my files and databases are ok so I took my wordpress files and database off and scanned it with my anti virus - there were no viruses.
My questions are will there be any code on my files or database and if so how to I search for them? I know there was a reference in the warning from pulpit.com ( please do not go to that site as it’s to do with viruses ).
what else should be done to make sure it’s not on my site?
There is nothing to do with Google. It only checks and points out, if virus or malware is there it gives information about the same with the warning and your site will be accompanied with the warning in SERP. You need to sort out the problem. Scan your files with multiple anti-viruses. Be sure that you don’t have virus in your files. Check who have the access to the hosting accounts. Then you can contact with your hosting provider that they some problem.
when I contacted my hosting company they told me to have my site reviewed by goole as I did a virus check but no virus found in the files yet the virus still pops up when accessing the site ( even if my files are not on )
- how would the virus be on my files when the virus warning was on the old website before I even touched it?
- How can I make any further checks for viruses or codes if all my files have been checked and cleared?
- Is it possible there is code rather than virus?
There may be the code problem or somebody made such to have false virus warning. You need to check them out properly. The warning may be the false one that is made by somebody through accessing your files.
